BEIJING – President Xi Jinping sent a message to Nicolas Maduro on Tuesday, congratulating him on his re-election as president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
Since taking office, President Maduro has led the Venezuelan government and others to follow a path of progression suited to their own national conditions, making remarkable progress in nation-building, Maduro said.
China and Venezuela are intelligent friends who accept each other and smart partners for non-unusual development, Xi said. China, as always, will firmly support Venezuela’s efforts to safeguard national sovereignty, national dignity and social stability, as well as Venezuela’s just cause to oppose external interference.
Xi said he attaches great importance to the progress of China-Venezuela relations and is willing to work with President Maduro to continue to guide the China-Venezuela strategic partnership to new heights, so as to gain advantages for the other countries of the two countries.
